Your first assignment is to write a short memoir. Any questions? Can I write my memoir about Superbot? Are you Superbot? No. Then no. A memoir must, by definition, be about your OWN experience. Like what? For example, I could write about the challenge of trying to teach writing to a room full of morons in a night class, and my resulting alcoholism.

Learn Self Defense on Animation Show Vol. 3 DVD

April 29th, 2008

animationshowdvd2.jpgThe soon to be released Animation Show Volume 3 DVD will include an animated short I made a few years back called Learn Self Defense. The rest of the DVD is wall to wall, high-class independent animated short goodness. I highly recommend it. The DVD ships May 30, but pre-ordering is already underway at the Animation Show shop.

Also, the Animation Show was kind enough to print two We The Robots t-shirts to go along with the big DVD release. They are really cool about promoting the animators they work with, and I can’t thank them enough.

So, go order your copy of the DVD, or a We The Robots T-shirt! (we will also have additional shirt designs here at wetherobots.com in the near future, so stay tuned)

Please Vote for Make Mine Shoebox

April 24th, 2008

FrederatorWhen I’m not making this comic, I sometimes do some animation. A short I made several years ago for a large greeting card company has been nominated for Best Flash Film at Channel Frederator. If you’re into that sort of thing, why not…

Go VOTE FOR MAKE MINE SHOEBOX at Channel Frederator.

I don’t know what happens to the winners, but maybe it’s something cool, so I appreciate any votes.

Thanks!

Get back to work!

Randall’s Ghost

April 15th, 2008

randallsghost.jpgMy good friend Chad Strawderman has started a wonderful webcomic called Randall’s Ghost, with handsome white on black line work!

Chad and I went to school together and both drew comics for the Arizona Daily Wildcat back in the old days, and we’ve worked together several times since. I’ve learned a lot from him. It’s great to see him at it again.

I could be wrong, but I believe Chad draws Randall’s Ghost in chalk on actual chalk boards. Each week he buys a whole new chalkboard, and carefully preserves it when he’s done. He keeps his huge pile of chalkboards in a storage unit down by the railroad tracks. (This may or may not be true. I’m just telling you what I heard.) Go! Enjoy!
